INCREDIBLE 2nd Half Performance by Hopewell Jr High Gold Team

Head coach Doug Biega must have given a Hall of Fame halftime speech because it certainly woke his team up.

Despite being up by 16 points, his Hopewell players played a sloppy first half, making a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes both offensively and defensively.

The second half was completely different as they were nearly perfect, out-scoring Montour, 32-2, enroute to a lopsided win.

Keep in mind when these two teams played last year, Hopewell squeaked out a 53-51 win.

It was not nearly as close this year as Hopewell Gold improved their record to 7-1.

1st Quarter Recap:

*Things started well, as on the first possession of the game, Brody Rock hits a corner 3.  Hopewell 3-0

*James Armstrong was a beast on the boards this afternoon, this possession he gets an offensive rebound and passes to Rock for 2. Hopewell 5-0

*Defense, defense, defense. Tre Cameron comes up with the steal and dishes to Armstrong for 2 plus the foul. Hopewell 8-0

*Nice designed underneath in-bounds play gets Armstrong open for a layup and he’s fouled. Hopewell 10-0

*Towards the end of the quarter, Avery Bokor misses a 3 but Rock gets the rebound and layup. Hopewell 12-0

*Armstrong grabs a defensive rebound, throws a baseball pass to Bokor, who glides in for the layup.  Hopewell 14-0

*Cameron breaks an 8-0 Montour run as he hits a corner 3. Hopewell 17-8

2nd Quarter Recap:

*Running a half court set, the Vikings iso Armstrong who powers his way in for 2. Hopewell 22-12

*Armstrong plays defense as he steals an in-bounds pass and puts it up for a layup and gets fouled. Hopewell 26-14

*With a minute left in the half, Jack Biega with an aggressive drive down the lane for 2. Hopewell 28-16

*At the buzzer, Armstrong grabs an offensive rebound and puts it in before the clock hits zero.

Halftime: Hopewell 32 Montour 16

3rd Quarter Recap:

*Boo breaks the Montour press himself and takes it in for a layup and gets fouled. Hopewell 34-16

*Armstrong with a steal and goes in for a layup. Hopewell 36-16

*Bokor with good position down low and makes a medium range jumper. Hopewell 40-16

*Transition offense, Rock grabs the defensive rebound and hits Biega with a strong pass, Biega gets the layup and is fouled. Hopewell 42-16

*Following a missed free throw, Armstrong gets the rebound and puts it back in. Hopewell 44-16

*More defense as Rock gets the steal and finds Bokor for 2. Hopewell 48-16

*Armstrong with a steal and takes it the length of the court for 2. Hopewell 53-16

4th Quarter Recap:
