Section Changes for the Hopewell Baseball Program in 2025 and 2026
The WPIAL has released new section alignments for the next two-year cycle and the Hopewell Vikings baseball program will see some changes.
Morgan Singletary’s program remains in Class 4A, but they’ll be a couple changes in their Section 1.
The biggest change is that Montour is no longer in 4A and has moved up a classification to 5A.
Montour is gone and two new programs are moving in: Hampton and North Catholic.
So, here’s what the Class 4A Section 1 will look like for the 2025 and 2026 seasons: Hopewell, Ambridge, Beaver, Blackhawk, Central Valley, Hampton and North Catholic.
Section 2 will consist of Albert Gallatin, Belle Vernon, Elizabeth Forward, Laurel Highlands, Ringgold, Uniontown and West Mifflin. While Section 3 will be Derry, Greensburg Salem, Highlands, Indiana, Knoch and Valley.
Hopewell Sports Nation was able to get ahold of Coach Singletary to get his thoughts on the changes to the section.
“North Catholic and Hampton are traditionally pretty good, but I don’t know much about them and where their teams are at,” said Singletary. “I always try to have a difficult schedule in section and out of it, so we know where we stand and what we need to improve upon for playoffs if we are in a situation to make it.”
Looking ahead to baseball season, here are the key dates:
March 4th: First practice date.
March 9th: First scrimmage date.
March 15: First play date.
March 25: First section date.
May 10: Playoff pairings meeting.
May 28-29: WPIAL championship, Wild Things Park.
June 13-14: PIAA championship, Penn State.
