Hopewell Sports Nation is proud to introduce Ariana Fischer as our newest student writer. Ariana brings enthusiasm, attention to detail, and a true appreciation for Hopewell athletics as she begins covering Junior High sports this season.
The Hopewell Girls 7th and 8th Grade Junior High Volleyball teams took the court on February 11 for a preseason scrimmage against Montour, putting their open gym sessions and early practices into action.
The 7th grade team opened the afternoon, showcasing impressive energy, communication, and fundamentals as the 8th graders looked on. It was a strong first showing for a new group that is already demonstrating promise and cohesion.
The 8th graders followed with a confident performance of their own, building on experience gained last season and throughout early practices this year. The scrimmage provided valuable opportunities for coaches to evaluate rotations, identify positional strengths, and observe on-court chemistry in a game-like setting.
Both teams displayed teamwork, determination, and a positive competitive spirit. Although no official score was kept, the progress and potential on display made it clear that Hopewell Volleyball is well-prepared for the challenges ahead.
The season officially begins Tuesday, February 17 at home against Avonworth.
February Schedule
- Away at West Allegheny – Thursday, 2/19
- Home vs. Quaker Valley – Tuesday, 2/24
- Away at South Fayette – Thursday, 2/26
All home matches will be played in the Junior High Gym A.
7th grade begins at 3:30 PM, followed by 8th grade at 4:30 PM.
In addition, plans are being finalized for Hopewell to compete in the Central Valley Middle School Volleyball Tournament on March 21.
If this scrimmage was any indication, Hopewell Junior High Volleyball is set for an exciting and competitive season. The teamwork and talent on display already have the community looking forward to what’s ahead.
Welcome to the season — and welcome to Hopewell Sports Nation, Ariana!
