Hopewell Secures 10-7 Road Victory Over Western Beaver Behind Strong Pitching Efforts

The Hopewell Vikings came out on top Tuesday night, earning a hard-fought 10-7 win over Western Beaver on the road. From timely hitting to clutch performances on the mound, the Vikings showed resilience and poise to secure the victory.

Hopewell wasted no time jumping ahead in the first inning. Jacob Knobloch got the bats rolling with an RBI single, followed by Camden Hoth’s fielder’s choice that plated another run. A Western Beaver miscue added two more, giving the Vikings early momentum.

Western Beaver responded in the second inning to grab the lead, but Hopewell answered right back in the fourth. Andrew Arzberger’s fielder’s choice, Luke Vukovcan’s sacrifice fly, and another Western Beaver error brought in three runs, putting Hopewell back in control where they stayed the rest of the way.

On the mound, Connor Reed delivered in relief, earning the win with two and two-thirds shutout innings. Reed allowed just one hit, struck out a batter, and held Western Beaver scoreless to steady the game for Hopewell. Mason Santamaria then came in to slam the door, collecting the save and preserving the Vikings’ victory.

Starter Owen Ackerman battled through early innings, giving Hopewell valuable outs before turning it over to the bullpen. The combined effort of the pitching staff showed the team’s depth and ability to respond under pressure.

At the plate, Reed Budavich sparked the bottom of the lineup, driving in two runs from the number eight spot while going 1-for-3. Knobloch led the offense with a 2-for-4 performance to pace the Vikings in hits. Hopewell’s patient approach paid off, drawing seven walks on the night, with Ackerman and Ethan Adams each working two free passes. On the bases, Collin Davis showed off his speed with two stolen bags, while the defense turned in two double plays to back the pitching staff.

Camden Hoth – Double Play

For Western Beaver, Brenden Fortner finished 1-for-2 and drove in a team-high three runs, while Jett Williams led the way with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate. Western Beaver also showed patience offensively, working nine walks, with Isaac Majors and Jackson Kisucky each earning two. Cy Verba added three stolen bases to keep pressure on the Vikings.

Hopewell’s blend of offensive pressure, defensive execution, and standout relief pitching ultimately proved the difference in a quality road win.

Tonight was a double header with Hopewell going up against WB again but as the sun settled early this Fall they only logged a couple of innings ending after 3 with a score of 3-2.
