ππ₯ Undefeated & Unstoppable: Hopewell 8th Grade Claims Central Valley Spike Fest Title π₯π
The Hopewell Lady Vikings 8th Grade Volleyball team put together a dominant performance this weekend, capturing the Central Valley Spike Fest Tournament Championship in impressive fashion. From the opening serve to the final point, this group set the toneβand never let up.
Hopewell stormed through pool play undefeated, never dropping a single set all day, earning the top seed heading into the playoffs. That momentum carried straight into the championship, where the Lady Vikings sealed the title with a convincing 25-13 win over Quaker Valley.

Head Coach Terry Borkovic summed it up best in his statement to HSN:
βGreat day! We were undefeated in pool play. We didnβt lose a set all day. Top seed entering the playoffs. Serve receive was exceptional. Arianna Shell, Anton Budris, Ellie McCoy, Alyssa Phillips, and Amiyah Shell were all effective attackers. Lily Cain, Leah Buettner, and Stella Sannan were very good with their defense and serve receive. Brooke Otto and Sam Holsinger had numerous serving runs. Total team effort brought home the first place trophy.β
And the numbers back it up.
In the championship match, Hopewellβs serving game applied constant pressure. The team recorded 25 total service attempts with 4 aces, led by Brooke Otto (2 aces) and contributions from Alyssa Phillips and Stella Sannan. Long, controlled serving runs from Otto and Sam Holsinger helped create separation early and kept Quaker Valley out of rhythm.
Beyond the service line, the balance across the court stood out. The attackers delivered when needed, while the defensive unit consistently handled serve receive cleanlyβexactly what fueled their undefeated run throughout the day.
This wasnβt just a one-team success story either.
While the tournament primarily featured 8th grade competition, the Hopewell 7th grade squad stepped up and made noise, advancing to the second round of the playoffsβa strong showing against older competition and a sign of whatβs ahead for the program.
From start to finish, this was a complete team performanceβdisciplined, aggressive, and connected. The result? A well-earned championship trophy and a statement performance that sets the bar moving forward.
