Hopewell Youth Soccer: Team Cumpston U8 With Huge Second Half to Defeat Team Rhodes, 4-2
An exciting Hopewell Youth Soccer game took place this morning at the Hopewell Soccer Club Fields between Team Cumpston U8 and Team Rhodes.
The first half of the match was back and forth action as the kids had plenty of chances on the rain-soaked fields.
However, late in the first half, Team Rhodes got on the scoreboard twice to take a 2-0 lead.
At halftime, Coach Cumpston made some adjustments and his players responded with a huge effort in the second half.
Early on in the half, Will Vukovcan planted himself in front of the goal and banged in a shot to make the score 2-1.
Then it was the Declan Snyder show as he scored a natural hat trick.
Snyder weaved his way through a couple of defenders to bury a shot in the lower left corner to tie the match.
Then with less than 2 minutes in the game, Team Cumpston scored what would turn out to be the game-winning goal.
Vukovcan collected the ball deep in his defensive zone and dribbled up across the field, eventually getting deep in the offensive zone. Will then passed across to the middle and connected with Snyder, who buried it to the lower right side of the net. Team Cumpston led 3-2.
Then with under a minute left, Snyder connected again for an insurance goal to give his team a 4-2 lead.
Great job and effort to the entire team. Addison Benson, Ola Gudson and Noah Rearick did a tremendous job splitting time as the goalies.
Team Cumpston is now 3-1-2 on the season and are next in action next Saturday morning as they take on Team Redman.
