Hopewell Junior High Basketball Team Remain Undefeated After 32-Point Win Over Blackhawk
We’ve mentioned on previous occasions how much talent this Hopewell Junior High Gold team has on their roster.
When it’s said that on any given game, anyone in their starting lineup can lead the team in scoring it’s the truth and today was a perfect example of that.
Most times, James Armstrong is their leading scorer but that wasn’t the case this afternoon against Blackhawk as Tre Cameron and Brody Rock were impressive with their best games of the young season. The Hopewell Gold team is now 3-0 following a 62-30 win over Blackhawk.
Although by the final score it doesn’t like it, but Blackhawk gave Coach Biega’s team their most competition of the season. After leading by only 6 points after the first quarter, the Vikings outscored Blackhawk 44-18 over the last 3 quarters.
As the saying goes, offense wins games, but defense wins championships and that’s why this is a championship caliber team. Their relentless full-court press defense and their suffocating man-to-man defense is very difficult to deal with four 4 quarters. Leading the way with that is the presence of Armstrong down low and Cameron and Jack Biega up top. Speaking of Jack, every game he’s assigned to cover the other team’s best player and he’s done a terrific job. Today, Blackhawk’s best player Marco Fusseti, Biega only allowed him to score 10 points.
It’s not always about scoring the most points for your team; it’s about doing anything and everything to give your team the best chance to win.
