Results From The Hopewell High School Swim Teams First Meet Against Keystone Oaks
The Hopewell High School Swim teams 2023-24 season started last night with promising results.
The Vikings girls team won their meet, despite having only 7 swimmers.
“The results from the first were better than expected,” Hopewell Swim Coach Kathi Lopez tells Hopewell Sports Nation. “The team as a whole put up good times for a first meet.”
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE KEYSTONE OAKS MEET:
*Freshman Hazel McCowin started the season with 2 WPIAL qualifications, qualifying the 200 IM and the 500 Freestyle.
“No better way to start the season than with 2 cuts right out of the gate,” says Lopez. “This will be an exciting season for Hazel and the team.”
*Junior Connor Program improved his 50 Free 2 meets in a row.
“It’s great to see him getting faster. Connor is great at challenging himself and I think this will be a successful season for him,” said Lopez.
*Junior Owen Levinger improved his 200 IM two meets in a row. Owen works really hard at practice, it’s awesome to see his work paying off. He’s really coming on,” said Lopez.
“I noticed a big change in the energy on the deck. I was so proud of how the team supported each other. Great leadership by our Captains Emmet McCowin and Jordyn Glumac. Relays looked solid and have a lot of promise. Really looking forward to seeing them improve meet after meet.”
The next Hopewell High School meet is next Tuesday, December 12th as they take on Carlynton.
