Hopewell Native – Motocross Pro Inspires Hopewell High Students

Motocross Pros Inspire Hopewell High Students
Hopewell High School welcomed a special group of guests yesterday as three professional motocross athletes, including a proud Hopewell graduate, who returned to inspire students about the importance of education and the exciting career opportunities in the world of motocross.
JR Savnier, a professional motocross driver and Hopewell alum, spoke to current students about the value of staying in school and focusing on graduation. Drawing from his own journey, he emphasized how a solid education can open doors—not just in traditional careers, but also in the world of competitive sports like motocross.
Savnier was joined by Vinny Luhovey, another Pittsburgh native who is in town to compete in this weekend’s motocross event. Savnier shared his personal stories, answered questions, and offered advice to students about pursuing their passions while keeping education a priority.
Adding even more excitement to the visit, retired motocross legend Broc Glover also took the stage. A Pittsburgh native himself, Glover holds a special place in local motocross history as the last racer to win a championship at Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Stadium back in 1983—the last time the event was held in the city.
The visit was not only a trip down memory lane but also a motivational experience for students, as they heard firsthand how dedication, education, and a love for the sport can lead to a successful and fulfilling career.
