🏐⚡ Statement Wins, Surging Momentum… and a Saturday Showdown Awaits ⚡🏐
🏐🔥 Lady Vikings Bring the Energy in Big Week of Action 🔥🏐
It was a packed and exciting stretch for the Hopewell Lady Vikings Junior High Volleyball teams as they took on tough competition in back-to-back matchups against West Allegheny and Quaker Valley, showcasing growth, determination, and standout performances across both grade levels.
🏠 Monday 3/16 Recap vs. West Allegheny
Back on their home court for the first time against West Allegheny this season, the Lady Vikings came ready to compete.
The 7th grade squad continues to show steady improvement, opening strong with a 25-19 first set victory. The second set was tightly contested, but West A edged out a 25-22 win. In the deciding set, West Allegheny pulled ahead 15-7, but the score doesn’t fully capture how hard Hopewell battled for every point. The 7th graders are proving to be a team that continues to close the gap and challenge opponents each time they step on the court.
The 8th grade team followed with a mission after a close loss to West A earlier in the season on February 19—and they delivered.
Hopewell set the tone early with a 25-18 first set win, using strong serving and consistent play to stay in control. The momentum carried into the second set, where the Lady Vikings held off a competitive West A squad to secure a 25-22 victory, completing the sweep. The home crowd erupted as the team came together for one of their most complete performances of the season.
🌉 Tuesday 3/17 Recap at Quaker Valley
The Lady Vikings hit the road Tuesday for a rematch at Quaker Valley, and both teams gave the traveling crowd plenty to cheer about.
The 7th graders once again showed how much they’ve grown as a unit. While they fell in two sets (17-25, 20-25), the improvement was clear. Strong passes, confident serves, and better court awareness continue to build a foundation for future success.
The 8th grade team delivered another thrilling performance in a match that had momentum swings and standout individual efforts throughout.
Hopewell came out firing in the first set, highlighted by Brooke Otto opening with an ace and Ariana Fischer putting together an incredible 7-point service run with 6 aces. Defensive efforts from Stella Sannan and Lily Cain helped control the pace as the Lady Vikings cruised to a 25-11 win.
Set two turned into a battle. Otto added two more early aces, while Amiyah Shell contributed key points from the service line. With the score tight throughout, Hopewell held a late 23-22 lead, but Quaker Valley rallied to take the set 25-23, forcing a decisive third.
In the final set, both teams came out locked in. After Quaker Valley grabbed an early lead, Brooke Otto delivered a game-changing 9-point service run, including 4 aces, swinging momentum back to Hopewell. Contributions across the lineup—from Riley Yanchik, G’lianna Wilcox, Sierra Perry, Leah Buettner, and others—kept the pressure on. A late service push from Sam Holsinger helped seal the deal, and a heads-up play by Otto to finish the match secured a 15-8 win and the match victory.
A big thank you goes out to the parents and supporters who made the trip to Quaker Valley and brought the energy on the road.
