Thursday, 2/26 β€” JH VIKINGS SHOW OUT by Ariana Fischer

The 7th and 8th grade girls Junior High volleyball teams delivered an amazing performance in their away matches at South Fayette. The girls showed improvement with each game and executed what they’ve been learning from their coaches, Coach B and Coach Lexi. So far this season, they have grown tremendously together β€” as both a team and a family of Vikings.

The 7th graders played a very energetic match, with the 8th graders cheering them on the entire way. They supported one another and completed great passes, sets, serves, and hits. The first set ended 25–12, followed by a hard-fought second set at 25–27. They battled through the final set but just missed the win, 12–15, against South Fayette. The Lady Vikings showed resilience, competing together through both the tough moments and the highlights of the match.

The 8th graders had a powerful performance, winning the first set 25–18. They faced a tough second set, with South Fayette taking it 25–19. However, everything came together in the third set, with Hopewell coming out on top 15–7. Each week, the teams continue to grow, working better together and building skills in practice. They look forward to daily practice and the teamwork that makes them winners.

8th Grade Box Score Highlights

Hopewell recorded 8 service aces as a team, with strong serving pressure throughout the match. Brooke Otto led the way with an impressive 18 service attempts and 4 aces, consistently putting South Fayette on the defensive. Alyssa Phillips added 2 aces on 9 strong serves, while Afton Budris and Stella Sannan each contributed an ace to keep momentum on Hopewell’s side.

Sam Holsinger delivered a steady serving run with 8 attempts, and Ariana Fischer added 5 confident serves to maintain pressure. Lily Cain, Amiyah Shell, and Arionna Shell each stepped up to the service line and contributed valuable rotations during key stretches of the match.

Beyond the serving line, the Lady Vikings showed full-team effort and sideline energy. Kelsey Homick, Riley Yanchik, Ellie McCoy, G’lianna Wilcox, Leah Buettner, and Sierra Perry all contributed through communication, support, and readiness β€” demonstrating the depth, positivity, and teamwork that helped secure the 2–1 match victory.

Congratulations to both the 7th and 8th grade teams on an outstanding showing against the Lions.

The next match will be a home game against Fort Cherry on Thursday, March 5. All home games are played in the Junior High Gym A. 7th grade begins at 3:30 pm, followed by the 8th grade at 4:30 pm.

Good luck, Hopewell! Please come out to cheer on your Hopewell Vikings!

Hello Hopewell! While I am not originally a Hopewell native, it has been my home for over 12 years. My wife and I have three beautiful children that all play Hopewell sports including baseball and softball. My wife and I are both active in coaching our Children's teams. I am a member of the Hopewell Youth Baseball Board of Directors and you will probably see me out at the fields at least a few days a week. Most recently coaching my youngest sons TBALL team.
