It was a nice effort Monday evening by the Hopewell Gold 10U Rec Softball Team as they battled Central Valley to a 2-2 tie.

Leading the way for the Vikings was Madison Santamaria, who registered 3 hits in her 3 at-bats, including an inside the park homerun.

Santamaria’s blast came in the first inning, which gave Hopewell the 1-0. That lead extended to 2-0 on an RBI double by Sofia Cronin.

Other hits for Hopewell came from Madison Marchitelli and Meier Swana.

On the pitching mound, it was Cronin and Santamaria, who did a great job of keeping Central Valley’s bats silenced.

Cronin pitched 3 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 run and striking out 3 batters. Santamaria also pitched 3 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 run and striking out four batters.

Next up for Hopewell Gold 10U is a game against New Brighton on Saturday.
