Softball Allstars 10U Come out Swinging in South Fayette!!!
The Hopewell Softball All Stars 10U won big over West Mifflin in the South Fayette Tournament 9-2 on Friday night under the lights.
Hopewell opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to three singles. They got on the board when Tayla Schwartzmiller singled, scoring one run.
A double by Sofia Cronin, a single by Lily Cain helped extend their early lead in the second.
They continued the hitting adding three runs on in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles by Kallie MacLaughlin, Sienna Zon and Gianna Ceccarelli.
Strong pitching and defense helped shut down West Mifflin, Madison Santamaria began the game for Hopewell. The starting pitcher surrendered one hit and two runs (zero earned) over two innings. Tayla Schwartzmiller pitched two innings of zero-run ball for Hopewell in relief. The right-handed pitcher gave up one hit, striking out one.
The bats were on fire for Hopewell who piled up 13 hits in the game. Madison, Gianna, Lily, and Lacy Soltis each collecting two hits. Sofia led the Stars with two runs batted in. Gianna, Lily, and Tayla each stole multiple bases leading the foot race for Hopewell, the team tallied 16 stolen bases for the game. The defense was on fire as Tayla made a nice catch at short and doubled up a girl off third throwing a laser to Sophia to complete the double play in the game.
Next up for the Hopewell All Stars 10U is a game at 11 am Saturday vs South Fayette.
