The Hopewell 11U All-Star Team Beats QV to Earn No. 1 Seed

Another Hopewell All-Star won enough to earn a top seed in their All-Star Tournament.

The Hopewell 11’s defeated Quaker Valley, 14-8, to get the No. 1 seed in the Riverside All-Star Tournament.

After being down 6-2 going into the bottom of the second, Hopewell put up 6 runs and never trailed again. In that inking, they worked 6 walks and 2 singles.

After Quaker Valley came back with 2 in the 3rd to tie the game, cleanup hitter Liam Rankin hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 4th to put the Vikings on top, 9-8.

After a clean top of the 5th, Hopewell put up another 5 runs on the back of 3 walks a couple of singles, and a double by Vin Smetana.

Channing Yesionek pitched the first 2 innings, Ryder Kostrick went the next 2, giving up 2 runs, and Rankin pitched a clean 5th to end the game.

Some offensive numbers for Hopewell: Connor Reed going 2-3 with 2 RBI, Smetana 2 runs and 2 RBI, Rankin 4 runs, 2 hits and 2 RBI, Kostrick 2 hits and 2 RBI and David Johnson 2 walks and 2 runs.

Tomorrow, Coach Rankin’s team will play Riverside at 11 AM and if they win, the winner of Washington vs. Blackhawk.
