HW Bowling Clean Sweep Against Nazareth!
The Hopewell Vikings Bowling Team returned to the lanes after winter break with a clean sweep against the Nazareth Prep Saints at Paradise Island Bowl on Wednesday. This match marks the completion of the first half of the 10-match schedule for the Vikings.
The Viking Boys were led by their senior captains to a 7-0 victory. Senior Daniel Earley shot a match leading 551 series and was followed closely by senior Colin Roessler contributing his first 500 series of the season with a 525. Birthday boy Reese Jacobs added a varsity career high 496 series and varsity career high 192 game just missing out on his first 200 game with a perfect shot in the 10th frame that left a ridiculous 7-10 split. Finally, freshman Max Butter added a match high & career high 240 game to the Vikings total finishing up the match. The Vikings boasted the 9 highest series’ in the match and finish the first half of their schedule 5-0.
While the Viking Boys were led by seniors, the Lady Vikings were led by their breakout sophomores. Sophomore Annabeth Sembower shot a match high 449 series and added a match high 180 game to the total. Her fellow sophomores Krysten Clary and Danica Jackson each added milestones to the victory as well. Clary shot a career high 142 game and Jackson shot a career high 133 game and a career high 344 series. Not to be outdone, senior Gianna Krayniewski shot a career high 345 series. The Lady Vikings finished the first half of their schedule with a 2-3 record and will look to improve upon that in the second half of the season.
The JV Vikings won a 7-0 match, taking their record to 5-0, and were led by senior Zach Hughes with a career best 156 game and a match leading 397 series. He was followed closely by senior Cade McIlvain with a 391 series and freshman Thomas Turino shooting a 372 series.
Team MVP awards were given out to Senior captain Colin Roessler and sophomore Danica Jackson for their career accomplishments in the match.
The Vikings are back in action at 3pm on Friday at Sheffield Lanes vs. the West Allegheny Indians. We hope to see you there!
