Hopewell Swimming
HW Swim Team – Performs at Meet!
Although the weather outside screams sledding, skiing and snow tubing the Hopewell Swim Team is warm indoors showing off their skills in the pool.
The Hopewell girls won their meet and our boys fought hard, but came up just short. HSN sat down with coach Kathi Lopez who said, “Despite the loss, I saw a lot of positives from both the girls and boys teams. Congrats to all our swimmers that scored in the meet.”
The girls 200 Medley Relay of Ava Yoder, Sophia Magistro, Jozlyn Marnhout, and Lindsey Brown had their best time and took 1st in the event.
The Boys Medley A Relay of Mitchell Ryan, Charles Houston, Troy Palochak, and Joey Gregory took 1st in the event. Mathew Fritz had his best lead off time on the B relay.
Individual Performances:
Mia Blakelee took 2nd in the 200 free and had her best time in the event.
Joey Gregory took 1st and Jacob Zupzic took third in the 200 free.
Ava Yoder took 1st and Aleen Gray took 2nd in the 200 IM
Owen Levinger took 3rd in the 200 IM
Lindsey Brown took 1st in the 50 free. Lindsey also already achieved WPIAL cuts in the 50 and 100 free at the West Allegheny Christmas Invitational.
Mitchell Ryan took 3rd in the 50 free. Joel Olshanski had his best time in the 50 free.
Joslyn Marhout took 1st and Aleena Gray took 2nd in the 100 fly.
Charles Houston took 1st and Troy Palochak took 2nd in the 100 fly.
Lindsey Brown took 1st and Sophia Magistro took 2nd in the 100 free.
Joey Gregory took 1st in the 100 free.
Maddie Shields took 2nd and dropped 14.31 seconds in the 500 free.
Jacob Zupzic took 3rd in the 500 free.
The Girls 200 Free Relay of Jozlyn Marnhout, Ava Yoder, Sophia Magistro, and Lindsey Brown took 1st in the event. This group also achieved their WPIAL cut in the event at the West Allegheny Christmas Invitational. This group also achieved the WPIAL cut for the 400 Free Relay at the same meet.
The Boys 200 Free Relay A of Troy Palochak, Mitchell Ryan, Joey Gregory, and Charles Houston took 1st in the event.
Ava Yoder took 1st and Sophia Magistro took 3rd in the 100 Back.
Mitchell Ryan took 2nd and Troy Palochak took 3rd in the 100 Back.
Mia Blakeslee took 2nd in the 100 Breast.
Charles Houston took 1st and Tyler Oliver took 3rd in the 100 Breast.
The Girls 400 Free Relay of Aleena Gray, Mia Blakeslee, Maddie Shields, and Jozlyn Marnhout took 1st.
The Boys 400 Free Relay of Jacob Zupzic, Joseph McCullough, Joel Olshanski, and Owen Levinger took 2nd.
The team plans to regroup, build on the positives and get ready for Blackhawk Thursday.
