Hopewell Boys Soccer
Busy Week for the Hopewell HS Boys Soccer Team
Coach Nathan Richter and his Hopewell boys’ soccer program have a busy week ahead of them and it starts tonight.
Despite recent losses to Beaver and Avonworth, the Vikings are in the hunt for the fourth and final playoff spot in Class 2A Section 2.
To attain that goal, the objective is very clear- win their remaining matches.
That task will start tonight as they travel to Riverside. The rest of this week’s busy schedule includes a home match on Tuesday against Quaker Valley, Thursday at home against Mohawk and Saturday at home against Ellwood City.
If the Vikings are able to beat Riverside, Mohawk and Ellwood City, the key match and likely playoff decider will come next Tuesday when they travel to Keystone Oaks.
Hopewell is playing well, having earned a victory over Central Valley and then giving Avonworth, the best team in the section, everything they wanted before dropping a 3-2 decision. Despite losing to Avonworth, Hopewell came out of that battle with a sense of confidence that they can play with the best teams in Class 2A.
The question now is can this team take care of business and stack enough wins to get into the 2024 playoffs?
We’ll start to get some answers to that tonight against Riverside.
Good luck Vikings!
