Hopewell Girls Volleyball Goes on the Road to Defeat 1st Place Avonworth in 4 Sets!
AVONWORTH– Tuesday night, the Hopewell High School Girls volleyball team faced off against the Avonworth Antelopes, who entered as the top team in the section and last week were ranked No. 1 in AA.
Despite losing the first set, the Lady Vikings stayed strong and won the next 3 sets by the exact same score of 25-18 and won the watch!!
With that win, the Vikings have now improved their overall record to 4-1 on the season, and 2-1 in the section.
Some of my key players and performances in this important win were senior captain OH Jordan Sirianni, senior captain RS Reese Murray, senior MH Alyssa Spang and junior OH Brianna Inderelst.

1ST SET:
-Mena Catanzarite passes to Bella Ceccarelli, who sets up Alyssa Spang for the Vikings first point, 1-1.
-Spang with a nasty spike and kill, Hopewell 2-1.
-Reese Murray with an amazing block, Hopewell 6-5.
-Ceccarelli sets up Sprang for the slide play and kill, Avonworth 11-10.
-Jordan Sirianni with a kill, Avonworth 14-11.
-Murray with an ace, Avonworth 21-16.
-Back-to-back aces for Murray, Avonworth 21-17.
-Mena Catanzarite with a great dig, which leads to a kill for Brianna Inderelst, Avonworth 24-20.

-An amazing diving dig by Inderelst leads to a sneaky dump from Ceccarelli, 2-2.
-Ceccarelli with an ace, Hopewell 4-2.
-Blocked by Spang, Hopewell 6-2.
-ANOTHER block from Spang, Hopewell 7-2.
-Sirianni passes to Ceccarelli, who sets up Spang for the kill, Hopewell 8-6.
-Mikayla Kurta with a kill, Hopewell 11-9.
-Murray with another ace, Hopewell 12-9.
-Sirianni with a great swing and the kill, Hopewell 13-10.

-Mena with an ace, Hopewell 12-9.
-Inderelst with a great dig, leads to a kill by Sirianni, Hopewell 15-10.
-Sirianni with an absolute rocket and the kill, Hopewell 16-11.
-Ceccarelli with yet another ace, Hopewell 17-11.
-Kurta with an amazing swing and kill, Hopewell 22-17.
-Addison Davis passes to Ceccarelli, who sets up Inderelst for the kill, Hopewell 23-18.
-Inderelst passes to Ceccarelli, who sets up Spang who can’t be stopped and wins the set with another kill.

FOURTH SET:
-Davis passes to Ceccarelli, who sets up Sirianni for the kill, Hopewell 1-0.
-A great dig by Ceccarelli leads to a kill for Sirianni, Hopewell 8-5.
-Murray with a nice kill, Hopewell 9-7.
-Inderelst with another kill after a nice rally, Hopewell 11-8.
-Mena with another ace, Hopewell 12-8.
-Spang with a great block, Hopewell 16-11.
-Spang with an amazing dig which leads to a Hopewell point, Hopewell 17-11.
-Yet another ace for Murray, Hopewell 21-15.

The girls played so amazing as a whole team, everything was clocking and just a great team game!!
They return home to take on New Brighton tomorrow night at Hopewell High School. The match starts at 7 PM, come out and fill up the gym!!!
