HW started off slow going down six to nothing after the first two innings. Aubrey Majors was on the mound for HW and threw three innings, striking out five batters and giving up 7 runs.

The HW bats were slow to get started against Southside as they were shut out the first two innings. It wasn’t until the third when HE started to claw their way back into the game putting up four runs. May Taylor got the offense started with a single on a ground ball to third who then advanced on a ground out by Eva Brunton. May steals their base seating herself up to score on the next play by Aubrey Majors who singles on a fly ball to Center field.

Next up Madison Santamaria drives a ball to deep center field scoring Majors and on a close throw to home Madison slides in just under the tag for the inside the park home run bringing the score to 6-3, Southside. Meier Swana steps up to the plate next and gets hit by the pitch. Aurie Levelle singles on the next play scoring Meier Swana, the score after three is now 6-4.

Madison S. came into the game pitching in relief for Aubrey throwing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts, silencing the Southside bats and giving Hopewell a chance to keep working themselves back into the game.

In the bottom of the fourth inning Hopewell would do just that scoring four more runs. May Taylor was hit by the pitch to start things off, followed by Eva Brunton who grounds out to the first baseman moving the runner over to second. Jayna Zito singles in the next at bat to first scoring May Taylor. Aubrey Majors singles on the next at bat to shortstop scoring Jayna tying the game with a score of 6-6. Hopewell would then take their first lead of the game as Madison Santamaria hit her second inside the park home run of the night to deep right field scoring two and putting Hopewell up 8-6.

That’s all the production Hopewell would need as Aubrey Majors came back into the game striking out the side and ending the game!

Hello Hopewell! While I am not originally a Hopewell native, it has been my home for over 12 years. My wife and I have three beautiful children that all play Hopewell sports including baseball and softball. My wife and I are both active in coaching our Children's teams. I am a member of the Hopewell Youth Baseball Board of Directors and you will probably see me out at the fields at least a few days a week. Most recently coaching my youngest sons TBALL team.
