HW JH Softball comes back late to beat Tigers!
There were runs aplenty on Friday, as the HW JH Vikings took down the Tigers 12-11. Hopewells bats were on fire as they collected 10 hits. The Vikings took some time to get warmed up and didn’t rally until late in the game having big back to back innings in the fifth and sixth innings to go up against the Tigers. Immediately after they gave up two runs and held the lead to close out the game in the 7th.
Abby Babinsack collected three hits in four at bats in the win. Babinsack doubled in the third inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the first inning.
The Tigers jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Alina McMahon singled, scoring two runs, and Taya FitzGerald drew a walk, scoring one run. An error extended the Tigers lead to 4-0 in the top of the second inning.
The Tigers added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Hopewell Jr High Softball 2024 committed an error, and Avery Joyce grounded out, each scoring
HW jumped into the lead in the bottom of the sixth when Lillian Otto tripled, scoring one run, Izzy Mutkus doubled, scoring two runs, and a passed ball scored one run.
Babinsack earned the win for Hopewell Jr High Softball 2024. The reliever surrendered eight hits and eight runs (three earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking four.
Addison Pavlisko stepped in the circle first for Hopewell and surrendered two hits and three runs over one-third of an inning, striking out none and walking four. Lucy Cripe stepped in the circle first for Tigers. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and four runs (three earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking none.
Hopewell Jr High Softball 2024 tallied 10 hits in the game. Otto and Gianna Rossi each collected multiple hits for Hopewell Jr High Softball 2024. Hopewell Jr High Softball 2024 had a strong eye at the plate, amassing five walks for the game. Bella Cipolla and Kylie led the team with two bases on balls each.
Tigers amassed 10 hits in the game. Joyce led Tigers with three runs batted in. They went 1-for-5 on the day. McMahon went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Tigers in hits.
Cripe collected two hits for Tigers in three at bats. Katie DeMarco led the Tigers with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. DeMarco stole two bases.
