Hopewell 6th Grade Girls Take Down No. 1 Seed Central Valley, Advance to Semifinals

Coach Rushel Shell’s Hopewell 6th Grade Basketball team is a step away from playing in the championship game.

This afternoon, the Lady Vikings defeated No. 1 seed Central Valley in the quarterfinals of the Beaver County Youth Playoffs.

Coming up at 4:30 pm, Hopewell will take on No. 2 seed Blackhawk in the semifinals. These teams met twice during the regular season with each team winning a game.

Todays game against CV was a back and forth contest with the Vikings getting out to a 7-4 lead. However, the Warriors then went on a 11-3 run to grab a 15-10 lead over Hopewell.

Coach Shell’s team responded by scoring the next 8 points of the game to lead 18-15. The key was Hopewell’s play down the stretch out scoring CV 8-3 in the 4th quarter.

Final Score- Hopewell 18 Central Valley 16.

Scoring for Hopewell:

Afton Budris 7 points.

Arionna Shell 5 point, 4 blocked shots.

Amiyah Shell 3 points.

Elianna McCoy 2 points.

Brooke Otto 1 point.
