Brighton 8U Maroon in Extra-Inning Thriller, 6-5

Hopewell 8U Navy delivered an unforgettable finish on Wednesday night, walking it off in the bottom of the eighth to defeat NB 8U Maroon 6-5 in a dramatic, back-and-forth battle.

With the game tied at 5 and the pressure mounting, Skylar P stepped to the plate and delivered a clutch single to bring home the winning run, sending the Hopewell bench and crowd into a frenzy.

Scarlett P was a force at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and two singles. Her eighth-inning double played a key role in the final inning rally, capping off an incredible all-around performance.

Hopewell struck first in the bottom of the first when Scarlett singled in the opening run. But NB 8U Maroon proved to be tough competition, repeatedly responding and retaking the lead throughout the game.

Charlotte R and Sophia S delivered big hits in the third and fifth innings to even the score. Then, down 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth, Hopewell dug deep. Scarlett’s double tied the game, and Skylar followed with the walk-off single to end it.

Hopewell racked up 20 hits in the game. Scarlett, Nora C, and Ann K all had three hits a piece, while Skylar P, Sophia S, and Chloe S each recorded multiple hits as well.

NB 8U Maroon showed their own strength with 18 hits on the night. Sophia H led her team with a 3-for-4 performance, and multiple players tallied RBIs in the closely contested matchup.

It was a total team effort and a character-defining win for Hopewell 8U Navy, who continue their strong postseason push!
