Hopewell Vikings Dominate Quaker Valley in Section Win, 10-2

The Hopewell Varsity Vikings Softball team earned a decisive 10-2 victory over Quaker Valley today in a key section matchup, powered by strong pitching, sharp defense, and an explosive offensive attack.
Alana Covalt set the tone early from the circle, pitching two innings without allowing an earned run, and striking out two. Kara Barkovich followed in relief, striking out three batters and walking none across one inning of work, allowing two earned runs. Allison came on to close the game, delivering 3 adn 2/3rd innings of outstanding pitching, recording four strikeouts, walking one, and allowing no earned runs.
On defense, Bella Katkich made a highlight-reel play at shortstop, snagging a hard-hit line drive with a diving catch that energized the Vikings.
The Vikings’ offense was just as dominant. Kara Barkovich had a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and a home run. Tallulah Showrank added to the fireworks, going 2-for-4 and blasting a two-run homer. Tori Mann led the hit parade, turning in a 5-for-5 performance that included a double.
With the win, Hopewell continues to build momentum for the rest of the season and heading into section playoffs. Hopewell is sitting at a .500 overall record, with a 4-5 conference record and in fourth place in the WPIAL 3A-2 standings.
