Beaver Bobcats Topple Hopewell Vikings 4-1 in Tuesday Showdown

The Hopewell Varsity Vikings were unable to keep up with the Beaver Varsity Bobcats, falling 4-1 in the matchup on Tuesday afternoon.
Hopewell struck first in the opening inning when Logan Triscila singled, driving in a run. The Bobcats quickly answered in the bottom of the frame, with Tanner Wilson scoring after tagging up on a sacrifice fly, evening the score at 1-1.
Beaver took control in the second inning. Jude Lovra’s single drove in the go-ahead run, and Ty Butler followed with a two-run home run to left field, extending the Bobcats’ lead to 4-1. That would be all the offense Beaver needed.
On the mound, Hopewell’s Kingston Krotec went six innings, allowing nine hits and four runs while striking out three and walking one. Beaver’s Logan Hill was dominant on the hill, throwing a complete game seven innings. The right-hander gave up just four hits and one unearned run, fanning 11 batters and walking one.
At the plate, Hopewell’s offense was led by Triscila, who went 1-for-3 with the team’s lone RBI. James Gill, Brody McCullough, and Jacolo Knobloch each recorded a hit for the Vikings. It’s clear that while Hopewell has the pitching to keep games close they continue to struggle at the plate.
Beaver was powered offensively by Wilson, who went 3-for-3 from the leadoff spot, and Butler, who finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Lovra also contributed, collecting two hits in two at-bats.
Hopewell will look to bounce back on Friday when they host the Chartiers Valley Varsity Colts.
