Hopewell Varsity Swim- Senior Send-off and Banquet

On March 21st, Hopewell Varsity Swim Team hosted their 2024-2025 banquet at The Fez. Here Coaches provided awards such as scholar-athlete awards, letter awards, and finally coaches awards.
Season Recap:
According to head coach, Kathi Lopez, she was very proud of all of the swimmers this year. She saw improvements, whether technical changes regarding stroke imperfections or time improvements. Both Coach Lopez and Coach Marnhout said that they were very proud of all of the accomplishments that the team had this year. Both coaches are happy to announce that both of them will be returning next year for the 2025-2026 Varsity Swim Season.
We had many relays qualify for WPIALS including the 200 free relays, 200 IM relays, and the girls qualifying the 400 free relay. Additionally, we had a few individual qualifiers such as Charlie Houston, Joey Gregory, Lindsey Brown, and Jozlyn Marnhout. The girls also had also placed first over all at the first ever Beaver Invitational meet held at Beaver Area High School.
All of our athletes this year created an environment everyone could enjoy, regardless of the good days or bad days everyone was supportive. Lots of collaboration and teamwork occurred out of the pool as well, with team bonding activities held at each other’s houses or just a simple get-together at a restaurant. This year was strongly built upon the respect and understanding everyone had for each other.
Banquet Recap:
The banquet was a cherishable moment for all. The coaches spoke about the season and how impressed they were with the group of individuals who were a part of the team this year and how proud they were for how far we had made it. Following that, the seniors were able to speak about the season and previous ones and what impact the team had on them. Awards were given at this event as well most students received at least one award if not more. Each year at the banquet, swimmers receive a gift from the swim boosters, freshmen get towels, Sophomores get hoodies, Juniors get sweatpants, and seniors normally get luggage.
