The Hopewell Varsity Vikings delivered a commanding performance on Thursday, March 20, 2025, defeating the Sto-Rox High School team with a final score of 15-0. Coach Ronda Koblek was poised after the win speaking to Hopewell Sports Nation, “I am proud of the girls tonight they showed a lot of respect in playing this team. Sto-Rox has a new program in the early stages of development.”  This decisive victory was highlighted by stellar pitching from Kara Barkovich and Alana Covalt, coupled with an explosive offensive display from the entire team.

Dominant Pitching Performance

Kara Barkovich earned the win for the Vikings, delivering an impressive performance that kept Sto-Rox scoreless throughout the game. Alana Covalt provided strong relief, pitching one inning of zero-run ball, striking out three batters, and walking none. Together, their efforts ensured that Sto-Rox was unable to find momentum offensively.

Offensive Onslaught

The Vikings’ offense was relentless, with each player contributing to the team’s impressive run total. The scoring began in the bottom of the first inning, where a series of timely hits and strategic plays led to multiple runs. Victoria Mann and Allison Ramaley each collected two hits, while Teagan Scully led the team with three walks, showcasing the Vikings’ disciplined approach at the plate.

Base Running and Defense

The Vikings’ aggressive base running was evident, as they accumulated four stolen bases during the game. Defensively, the team was flawless, committing no errors. Victoria Mann led the team with eight plays, demonstrating strong leadership and consistency in the field. Senior Tori Mann had been on fire this season throwing out another stolen base attempt at 3rd silencing any chances Sto-Rox had at scoring.

Looking Ahead

The Hopewell Varsity Vikings will look to continue their strong start as they host the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (OLSH) High School Varsity team on Friday, March 21, 2025. Fans are encouraged to attend and support the team as they aim to build on this impressive performance.
