HV’s JV Softball Falls to Blackhawk in walk off.

The Hopewell Junior Varsity Vikings suffered a tough 3-2 loss to the Blackhawk Junior Varsity Cougars on Monday, with the game decided on the final play. Similar to the loss the Varsity team was dealt only moments before, it was two tight games back to back for Hopewell. Tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Blackhawk’s Eva Parris delivered a crucial single that brought in the winning run.
Both teams showed impressive pitching throughout the game. Blackhawk’s pitchers struck out five batters, while Hopewell’s staff managed one strikeout. Despite the strong pitching efforts, the Vikings were able to jump out to an early lead.
Hopewell got on the board first in the opening inning. Ellasaundra Hartle came up big for the Vikings, doubling to drive in two runs. However, Blackhawk responded in the bottom of the fourth, first with a ground out by Heidi Tubbs and then with Parris’ single to left field, which put the Cougars ahead 3-2.
Mikaela David started the game on the mound for Hopewell, allowing just one hit and no runs in her one inning of work. She did not issue any walks and struck out none.
Offensively, Hartle was a standout for the Vikings, leading the team with two RBIs, while Claire Sarkis contributed two hits from the leadoff spot. Despite their efforts, the Vikings couldn’t hold onto their early advantage, and the game ended in a heartbreaking defeat.
