Huge News only here at Hopewell Sports Nation!!! We would like EVERYONE to HELP us WELCOME our new Journalist to the website.

Jacob Zupsic has agreed to join the HSN family as a writer which will help expand our ability to cover more sports, and continue to provide regular updates on all of the amazing youth athletes and their accomplishments in and around Hopewell. Jacob comes to HSN with some writing experience behind him already, recently covering the local Robotics competition which you will see posted on HSN this weekend and was also covered by WPXI. He is eager to partner with us and begin to learn the ins and outs of writing for a media organization.

Why Student Writers? As one of our mission pillars we are continuously focused on how to help educate our local students that have an interest in writing. So far this year all of HSN’s funding has gone back to the students. Through our scholarship program about to select its candidates and to paying student writers, we pride ourselves on our ability to provide local student writers this opportunity to learn and earn!

What’s the HSN Focus? HSN’s focus is on factual based articles highlighting the accomplishments of the student athletes, student performers, and extra curricular activities, the focus will be on the students. There is a silver lining to every story and plenty of students that don’t normally see any media attention that are well rounded athletes that deserve to be mentioned, and that’s what HSN will cover with the help of its student writers like Jake. Jake will bring an peer view to our articles that the students can relate to and interact with. The focus will always be creating a website that services the students and the town, hand in hand.

Don’t take my word for it lets hear from our new writer: JACOB ZUPSIC!

Hello Hopewell, my name is Jacob Zupsic. I am a sophomore at Hopewell High School. I am eager to be working with Hopewell Sports Nation for an opportunity for community support and growth. I currently swim for Hopewell’s Varsity team and Steel City Aquatics. My endeavor first started at Goldfish Swim School when I was younger to just learn to swim, then from there my course was set and I knew swimming was something that I could take to the next level. Despite the hardships faced along the way, there was always one thing that kept me going and that was the thought of becoming a better athlete. My favorite part about being an athlete is the introduction to new people and new environments that I may not have experienced if not for athletics. Balancing academics, sports, and personal life is hard, however, creating a schedule and understanding that certain tasks are more vital than others is key to ensuring things get done on time. I pride myself on being a good teammate in and out of the water. The toughest part of my career was adjusting to high school life and the amount of work that was placed on me when moving into high school. However, the most rewarding aspect of my athletic journey has been witnessing my growth over time.

Being an athlete has helped me become a better person due to the support each other has given. If there was one thing I could say to any athlete pursuing or interested in a sport that would be no matter how tough it may seem, continue to put effort and you will eventually succeed. As one of my coaches told me “Getting uncomfortable physically can be rewarding mentally.” I am involved in the Best Buddies Club, which helps students with learning support needs feel welcome and ensures they have the same opportunities to participate as anyone else. Last week, Hopewell High School hosted the Unified Robotics competition. It was incredibly rewarding to watch everyone come together and collaborate, brought together by their shared interest and passion for robotics, rather than any differences.

HOPEWELL, PLEASE HELP ME WELCOME JACOB ZUPSIC TO HOPEWELL SPORTS NATION AND GIVE A SHOUTOUT WHEN YOU SEE HIM COVERING ALL OF THE HOPEWELL STUDENTS EVENTS!!!

Hello Hopewell! While I am not originally a Hopewell native, it has been my home for over 12 years. My wife and I have three beautiful children that all play Hopewell sports including baseball and softball. My wife and I are both active in coaching our Children's teams. I am a member of the Hopewell Youth Baseball Board of Directors and you will probably see me out at the fields at least a few days a week. Most recently coaching my youngest sons TBALL team.
