Both Lady Vikings teams have started the season 2-0 but unfortunately yesterday, they ran into a very talented Couguars team.

Here are recaps of both the 7th and 8th grade games.

HOPEWELL 7TH GRADE RECAP VS. BLACKHAWK:

Despite the outcome, the Lady Vikings performed well and gave Blackhawk a contest before dropping a 34-28 decision.

Hopewell had a 14-11 lead before the Couguars went on an 8-0 run to take the lead.

Hopewell was led in this game by Dallas Boyd, who scored a team-high 10 points, including two 3-pointers.

Other scorers yesterday for the Lady Vikings included Elianna McCoy (5 points), Amiyah Shell (5 points), Brooke Otto (4 points) and Afton Budris (4 points).

This 7th grade team returns to action tomorrow when they travel to take on another talented program in South Fayette.

HOPEWELL 8TH GRADE RECAP VS. BLACKHAWK:

This game wasn’t as close but keep in mind that Blackhawk year in and year out has one of the girls’ basketball programs in all of the WPIAL.

Games and opponents like this for Hopewell are good in the sense of challenging yourself against the best competition.

This group of 8th graders are talented and will no doubt get better throughout this season and more importantly over the upcoming years.

Hopewell trailed 10-7 early but Blackhawk went on a 12-0 run to gain full control of the game.

Taking a look at the box score for Hopewell, Lily Enders led the way with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocked shots, Calasia Cannon chipped in 5 points, while Ava Ray and Abby Babinsack each had 2 points.

These ladies will be back on the court tomorrow afternoon when they take on South Fayette.
