Hopewell Rec Softball
Vikings 10U Softball Make a Comeback against Moon!
Hopewell starts off the day by winning the coin toss and starts the game off in the field as the home team.
Pitching today was a combined effort from Tayla Schwarzmiller who started in the
Circle for the Vikings, Sofia Cronin who came in as relief and Madison Santamaria who closed it out in the circle for Hopewell. Although Hopewell pitchers managed a high strike to pitch ratio Moon came with bats ready with 14 hits on the day to Hopewell’s 4.
Hopewell’s offense trailed in runs the majority of the game, however in the last inning the players showed their grit and determination.
Down by 7 going into the last inning, Madison Santamaria goes in to close the game in the circle for Hopewell. The first batter singles back to Madison Santamaria. Santamaria strikes out the next two batters, as Tayla Schwarzmiller closed out of the inning with the pop fly.
Hopewell showed they weren’t giving up yet. They Batted around their order in the last inning. Meier Swana leads off and draws a walk. Sutton Murray has a timely double to left field scoring Swana for an RBI. Next Lacey Snouffer draws another walk. Ruby Fillo singles moving Snouffer to third. Both Schwarzmiller and Gianna Ceccarelli drew a walk to load the bases. Madison Santamaria hit a bomb over the left fielders head for a stand up triple bring the score all the way back to Hopewell 9 – Moon 10. Santamaria had the chance to score but unfortunately she was unable to score on the hit due to tournament rules and a run per inning cap which was met with Schwarzmiller’s run. A lack of the continuation rule in this tournament has surely affected the final bracket as Hopewell is prevented from winning their second game!
The runs earned still went towards hopewell’s run differential and will play a vital role for the seeding games tomorrow.
Stay tuned for more updates as these girls are not going quietly in this CV tournament, ROLL VIKES!!!
