OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION as 8-Year-Olds Rout Avonworth, 26-12
Hopewell Twp- In their opening game of the day against New Brighton, the 8-year-old All-Star team scored 16 runs and pounded out 25 hits.
It would be difficult to improve upon those numbers but they were able to do just that in their next game against Avonworth.
In a complete team effort, the Vikings team collected an amazing 35 hits enroute to a 26-12 win.
It’s important to get production from the top of your and Hopewell certainly got that as the top five hitters in their lineup (Jordan Peck, Bennett Beron, Brody Benson, Jonah Honess and Aaron Ackerman) went a combined 21-for-25.
While the final score gives the indication that this game was a blowout that was hardly the case for the first five innings.
Heading into the final inning, Hopewell only led 11-7 and that’s when they scored 15 RUNS in the top of the 6th inning.
