Hopewell Youth Baseball
12-Year-Olds Open South Park Tournament with 15-0 Pounding of South Fayette
For a variety of reasons, the All-Star season hasn’t panned out how the Hopewell 12-year-old team had hoped for.
The good thing is that this group of kids still have two tournaments left to end their Hopewell youth baseball careers on a high note.
Today the Vikings opened up play in the South Park Tournament as they took on South Fayette in their first game of the day.
Hopefully today is a sign of things to come as Hopewell completely dominated South Fayette, 15-0 in just 4 innings.
Let’s start with the pitching, head coach B.J. Rankin received 4 shutout innings, including one each from Ethan Adams and Connor Reed.
Congratulations to Nico Yannessa for hitting a homerun, the first of his career. Getting that first one is huge, way to go Nico!
Also, Liam Rankin also pounded a home run.
Offensive Box Score:

*Too many miscues for Hopewell in Game Two as they committed 4 errors, which accounted for 4 unearned runs.
Ryder Kostrick started and went 3 innings, allowing only 2 earned runs and striking out five. Vin Smetana pitched the last two innings, allowing only 2 hits, 1 earned run, while striking out three.
Offensively, Ethan Adams and Smetana each had two hits, while Adams had 2 RBI, Kostrick 1 RBI and Nico Yannessa 1 RBI.
Hopewell trailed 7-1 going to the last inning and scored three to make things interesting with the tying runner at the plate but couldn’t complete the comeback.
