12 Year Olds Get The Offense But Lose to Missiles 12U in Monroeville Tournament
The Hopewell 12-year-old All-Stars challenged themselves by joining a field full of talented teams in the Monroeville Tournament.
While some players put together some nice individual moments, the Vikings didn’t perform to their expectations and bowed out early.
In today’s bracket play, Coach Rankin’s team took on a solid Missiles 12U team and certainly fought but in the end, ended up losing 16-9.
Hopewell fell behind 7-1 before staging a comeback and tying the game 7 apiece. However, they couldn’t keep up with the Missiles organization, giving up 9 runs in the final two innings.
The Vikings won’t be happy with their defense and “unearned” run allowed. Of the 16 runs scored today by Missiles 12, only 10 were earned.
Congrats to a couple of Hopewell players who hit homeruns this afternoon. Shortstop Vin Smetana hit a bomb to straight away centerfield and also picked up a triple. Nice game Vincent.
Also, Ryder Kostrick went 2 for 3 and also hit a homerun to centerfield. This was Ryder’s second homerun of the weekend, as he also went deep yesterday against South Park. Way to go Ryder!
