HOPEWELL 7-YEAR-OLD ALL-STARS
In a low-scoring, good defensive game, the Ambridge 7-Year-Old team defeated Hopewell by the score of 4-3.
The Vikings had a chance in the final inning as they had the bases loaded but the Ambridge 3rd baseman fielded a groundball and stepped on third base for the final out of the game.
Hopewell will return to the field at Noon to take on Moon. Ambridge goes up against Canon Mac at 2 pm, with the final game of the day in this age group taking place at 4 pm between Canon Mac and Moon.

After New Brighton jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st, Hopewell responded as Jack Holsinger drew a leadoff walk, stole second base and would score on a New Brighton fielding error.
Bowen Smith came on to pitch the second inning for Hopewell and was outstanding as the set New Brighton down in order 1-2-3. Smith recorded two strikeouts and got a New Brighton batter to pop up to 3rd baseman Declan Lavia. The score remained 1-1 thru 2 innings.
New Brighton took the lead again in the 3rd inning as they scored 3 runs, a couple courtesy of a Hopewell error. New Brighton 4-1.
Hopewell had a chance in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Lucas Strano led off by ripping a ball down the 3rd base line for a double. The Vikings would put another runner on base but couldn’t drive them in. Score remained 4-1.
In the top of the 4th, Eden Lingenfelter came on to pitch and did a great job striking out 2 batters and setting New Brighton down 1-2-2.
In the bottom of the 4th, Hopewell once again had a chance to get back in the game as they got 2 runners on but couldn’t bring them in.
The game got away from the Vikings in the 5th and 6th inning as they allowed 10 runs.
