Tremendous Weekend for Hopewell Youth Baseball Teams in All-Star Tournaments
Hopewell Youth Baseball had four All-Star teams participating in tournaments this past weekend.
All four of them made the championship game unfortunately all coming up just short. But a bunch of teams from other communities got sent home early thanks to Hopewell teams.
It’s a testament to the work that these gets are putting in, their development, from the coaching that they’re receiving but ultimately how our kids respond and compete.
Our 8-year-olds, defeated Cornell, 11-4 and Central Valley, 7-0 on Saturday, which earned them a No. 2 seed heading into bracket play on Sunday.
In their first game on Sunday, Hopewell beat Monroeville, 12-2. A lot of offense in that game but to Tristyn Trkulja, who hit a home run and for the weekend, Tristyn banged out two over the fence home runs. Center field at South Side is 130 feet.
In Game 2, Hopewell played No. 3 seed Monessen and won an exciting 12-11 game. Congrats to Michael Kurta for hitting the game-winning walk-off double.
In the championship game, Hopewell ran into a talented South Side team and lost 12-7.
HSN also received a report on the Hopewell 10U All-Star team.
Despite coming into bracket play as the lowest seed, which meant they had to play the top seed, Hopewell showed up in a big way. Despite being them the night before, Hopewell beat the top seed 9-4. Then in the semifinals game, they won again, this time by the score of 17-6. However, they fell short in the championship game.
Regardless, that’s an outstanding weekend and first tournament for our 10-year-old team.
Great job to them and all the Hopewell teams that participated.
