Hopewell Softball
HW Softball 12U Defeats Number 1 Seed!
Having a strong pitching game will carry you through the playoffs. We see it currently happening on the boys pony league team and now with girls softball on the 12U team. Hopewell easily flexed its playoff muscle getting past New Brighton 10-3.
Abby Babinsack took to the mound for five innings striking out 12 batters in an amazing effort while only walking two and keeping the New Brighton team to only 3 runs. On the flip side of the ball New Brighton had issues throwing strikes giving up 12 walks which Hopewell was able to take advantage of by stacking up 24 stolen bases and multiple runs. The HW bats only mustered five hits on the game driving in four RBI’s but they made them count and timely base running handled the rest taking advantage of defensive opportunities.
Sam Holsinger and Gianna Rossi combined for four of the five hits for Hopewell. Gianna Rossi went 2-for-3 at the plate as the first baseman led the team with two runs batted in.
Hopewell took the lead in the top of the second when Lily B drew a walk, scoring one run, and a dropped third strike scored two runs as Hopewell didn’t look back after that.
Congratulations to Hopewell 12U- Team Holiday for their victory as they move onto the semi finals on Monday July 1st against an (8-0) Blackhawk Black Team.
