HW Softball 10U Walk Off Playoff Win!
For a 10U game it is rare to see the games duration get to six innings let alone eight, but Hopewell and Southside would not give up.
In this game Hopewell only had one lead and it was when Lacey Snouffer ripped a double into left field in the bottom of the eighth inning scoring Madison Santamaria from third. It was a low scoring, minimal action game where most of the standout plays were on the defensive side of the ball.
Southside got off to a quick start putting up two runs in the first off a Rylee Checkan inside the park home run, but after that both pitchers from each team settled in nicely and the game became a pitching and defensive matchup. It seemed that every time HW started to get something going offensively Southside was there to answer with a big strike out or back to back line drive outs to third base.
Hopewell managed to tie the game 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning with a double from Aubrey Majors followed by another double from Madison Santamaria and a single from Lacey Snouffer.
The next two innings were all pitching right up until the walk off ending by Hopewell.
Aubrey Majors started for Hopewell pitching three innings and striking out five batters. Madison came in as relief for Aubrey pitching five innings while striking out 11 batters maintaining an impressive 63% strike to pitch ratio.  HW’s consistent pitching kept them in the game and will be tested in their next Playoff Game tomorrow against Ambridge in the Quarterfinals.
