Hopewell Softball
HW Softball Team Majors Wins 1st Playoff Game
It was a scorcher Tuesday Night when HW Team Majors/Santamaria took on Ambridge in their first youth softball playoff game of the season.
The temperatures were in the 90’s, coolers of ice water, cooling towels and pop up tents were out, to provide as much relief as possible. The forecast called for rain but the only downpour we saw was in the way of runs from Hopewell’s offense as they put on a stellar performance winning 14-3!
In a game with 14 hits and tons of action everyone got in on the fun and we mean everyone. Each player recorded at least one hit for HW with the small exception of Jaina Zito who unfortunately did not get the chance to hit as she was hit by pitches twice. Instead of boring you with a daunting play by play let’s jump right into the stats for each girls amazing performance as it was a true team effort.
Aubrey Majors (1B, P)- 2 Hits
Lacey Snouffer (C, 3В)- 3 Hits/ 4RBI’s
Madison Santamaria- (P, 1B)- 4 Hits/7RBI’s
Aurie Levelle- (3B, C)- 1 Hit/1RBI
Gia Bertoni (SS, LF)- 1 Hit
May Taylor (LF, SS)- 1 Hit/1RBI
Jania Zito (2B, CF)- HBP x2
Madison Marchitelli (CF, 2B)- 1 Hit
Kendal (RF, CF)- 1 Hit/ 1 RBI
HW amassed 8 Doubles tonight lead by Madison Santamaria with 4, Aubrey Majors -2, and Lacey Snouffer/May Taylor with one each. These four players accounted for 12 RBI’s on the night driving the heart of the HW lineup.
The HW pitching was dialed in, putting up 8 strikeouts and allowing 3 runs. Madison Santamaria started the game and pitched two scoreless innings-3 total, and Aubrey Majors came in as relief and pitched two innings of solid ball.
This will be a double elimination playoff and our HW 10u Team Majors/Santamaria is now 1-0. Their next game is at Home vs CV on Thursday at 6pm.
