Around Hopewell
Beaver County Bounces Back!
Beaver County – May 18th
Finally some amazing weather after weeks and weeks of rain and it couldn’t have happened on a better day or for a better event in Beaver County.
In an effort to raise awareness for mental health, and suicide prevention Beaver County hosted a free wellness event to raise awareness.
The local Beaver County Rage 10u travel softball team volunteered at the event as part of an effort by this league to give back to the community that does so much to support them. This rage team is made up of girls from the surrounding Beaver County area including; Hopewell, Aliquippa, Monaca, and Center Township, Beaver Falls, New Brighton, Wexford and Southside.
As part of their volunteer efforts the team helped man tables, run activities and support the Beaver County initiative in overall event support.
We all see the effect mental health issues have on our children, families and communities and the only way to fix the problem is to address it head on and we couldn’t be prouder of this travel softball team doing there part in the middle of their travel season to do something to give back!
Elisa Majors from the BCBH had this to say thanking the team for their efforts,

There were many sponsors of the event one of which was Merakey a non-profit provider of developmental, behavioral health, and education services. More than 8,000 employees provide support to nearly 40,000 individuals and families throughout 12 states across the country each year.
Their programs support individuals with all kinds of needs, from people with addiction or intellectual and physical disabilities, to homeless veterans and children in need of homes. They help people who need someone to support and fight for them. It’s just the right thing to do. Our hope is that we’re helping to create communities where everyone can reach their fullest potential.
