HW Varsity Softball’s Season is Over!
May 14th- Varsity Softball Playoffs Hopewell vs. Avonworth
The odds were stacked against them with Hopewell going against a stellar Number 1 Seed Avonworth team. The Vikings have an amazing effort and hung with Avonworth for three innings making some great defensive plays and two great innings of pitching from Allison Ramaley.
Unfortunately, for HW it’s hard to keep a good team out of the game for long. In the bottom of the third Avonworth started opening up the game, scoring four runs making it 5-1. Again in the fourth Avonworth added another three runs making it 8-1.
HW was able to add one more run for the night on a Barkovich triple and Katkich sacrifice fly but that would be it.
Avonworths bats continued to perform tacking on four more runs through the sixth inning ending Hopewell’s season with a final score of Avonworth 12, HW 2.
It was a long season for this Varsity squad and we will be back in the Fall with continued coverage of this amazing group of athletes at the end of the game HSN caught up with head coach Ronda Koblek, “It was a rough season battling injuries but these girls never gave up. Playing the number one seed, in playoffs, is tough but I saw positive momentum in our girls showing me they have the will to win. We will miss our seniors and wish them the best of luck in college and all three continuing their softball career. Until next season, we will continue to grow and make our community proud.”
HSN wants to say one more shoutout to the seniors leaving on this team who are moving on to continue their collegiate softball careers. Thanks for everything you have done for the sport of Softball in Hopewell and we wish you the best of luck; Ava Compton, Mya Parish, and Chloe Nale.
