HW Softball 10u Gold Wins Pitching Duel @ Freedom
By a skills comparison anyone would have thought a rebuilt, young, HW 10u Gold team would have struggled last night against a very talented Freedom Team. Final Score HW-3, Freedom-2.
It was quite the opposite, the game quickly turned into a pitching duel between these two teams. Both sides had shutout pitching with only one run given up through three full innings, every pitch mattered.
Aubrey Sharpless came out firing for Freedom putting up zeros against HW. Madison Santamaria started off for HW pitching two innings at the beginning of the game striking out 8 batters and giving up two runs.
Aubrey Majors came in as relief for HW and pitched three shut out innings sitting down each batter faced from Freedom and striking out seven. Madison returned in the sixth to shut down a late threat by Freedom who put up one run in the sixth in an attempt to come back but was able to strike out two ending the game.
As expected there are still opportunities for work with this young Hopewell Team as they struck out 15 times but the bats were moving and most strike outs were from girls swinging at good pitches.
Although enough to win the Hw offense put up three runs on hits from Ari Levelle, Madison Santamaria, Meier Swana, and Aubrey Majors. Madison, Meier and Aubrey each had multiple hits on the game with Meier and Aubrey driving in RBI’s.
Next up for Hopewell is a big CV matchup against their Carolina team in Wednesday at Home.
