Drill 4 Skill/Team Bokor Collects 1st Championship, Wins Adidas Battle of the Burgh AAU Tournament
Congratulations to Head Coach Katherine Bokor and her Drill4 Skill 4th Grade team on winning their first AAU tournament championship.
On Sunday, Drill 4 Skill beat “Best Virginia” in the championship game of the Adidas Battle of the Burgh in Monroeville.
The first game challenge for this group of 4th graders came on Friday from the “Court Soldiers”, a team comprised of 4th and 5th graders from Northern Pennsylvania.
It was a barn burner with a 11-10 finish with all 11 points coming from the Bokor sisters. Emmy Bokor hit a reverse fade away from the baseline to sink the winning basket in a dramatic finish. The inbound steal from Hailey Rodgers (from Mars) with 4 seconds left secured the win.
The D4S girls dropped a game on Saturday but made their way to the championship on Sunday morning, beating the “Best Virginia” 4th grade girls, 18-7.
It was a total team effort with scoring coming from most of the roster, but the Hopewell girls chipped in with 4 points from Piper Bokor, 3 points from Emmy Bokor and a great defensive showing from their younger sister, Pacey Bokor (3rd grader).
Coach Bokor wanted to give a special thanks to Isla Rock, sister of Hopewell standout 8th grader Brody Rock, for stepping in to help Bokor D4S fill in for a few girls, who couldn’t make the tournament.
This is the team’s first Championship of the 2024 AAU season.
