From the opening minutes, Hopewell displayed cohesion on the field leaving no doubt that they will be exciting to watch this season.

Scoring began early within the first ten minutes of the game when Aaden Gonzalez found the back of the net with a direct kick around the 20-yard line.

Gonzalez was not done helping the offense and found his teammate RJ Bushnell later in the half for the second goal of the game.

Heading into halftime with a 2-0 lead, Hopewell showed no signs of letting up.

The defensive line held strong with the help of James Pistorius, Dominic Buchanan, Sam Wrzesniewski, and John Wargula. Opponents were not getting through the defense and if they did goalie Tallon Coleman was able to shut out any chances of Somerset scoring.

Hopewell’s relentless attacking play was shown once again when this time around Quincy Sannan led with an assist to Nykeron Leonora for the third goal of the game. With time winding down, Jaidyn Shoemaker put the exclamation point on the victory with the last goal of the game.

This season, the U16 team is made up of incoming freshmen and sophomores seeking preseason training ahead of the fall high school soccer season. With a roster brimming with talent and determination, the team is poised to take on their opponents from Somerset, Wilmington, Indiana, and the Pittsburgh area.

Next up on the schedule is a home game against Wilmington on April 21st at 1:15. Games will be played at the soccer fields located on Service Creek Road.
